Challenges

Challenge 1 - Decide On Your Cause

If you've been going back and forth about what you want to devote your time to, or you've been spreading yourself thin, now is the time to decide. Watch the Advocacy Masterclass, review the Passion and Anger Modules, and narrow it down.

Share it with us in the Facebook Community!

Challenge 2 - Tell A Personal Story

Now that you know what you want to focus on, share a personal story related to why this cause is important to you.

You can write it in a journal and wait to share it until you join a group, or you can share it on social media, in a Facebook Group, with your friends, or ANYWHERE. But you need to write it down. Clarify your connection to it. This will help with your mission statement and passion-driven focus if things ever get hard.

Challenge 3 - Make A Care Package

You might think your cause needs to have a person as the audience for you to be able to participate in this challenge, but you're wrong! I want you to get creative.

I want you to think about what your cause's problems are. Write down a list of its problems and then turn those into solutions.

Now go get items that fix those solutions or at least represent those solutions and put them in a box or basket.

You are creating either a literal or symbolic care package.

It doesn't matter if your cause is creating homes for the homeless (you could start with supplies they need, that's maybe an easier mindset to think about for the care package) or reversing climate change (thinking about what would need to happen for carbon emissions to stop; maybe it's tote bags instead of plastic bags, a small electric car, etc.)

Identify your audience and imagine you're going to them at a board meeting and saying, "I have the fix for this. These aren't necessarily the exact items or life size, but these are the supplies we need. And here is why."

As you do this, you'll see a REAL plan forming.

Challenge 4 - Join A Group

You knew this was coming.

It's time to actually become a part of a community.

Whatever you are passionate about, there is a group that exists for it. Online or in person.

Obviously I recommend in person because you're likely to have a greater benefit from it and make larger strides. But you can ALSO find groups online to start with AND those groups can help you find in person groups!

Use the workbook to find volunteer match sites. Look on Reddit. Google your butt off. You can find a space for yourself.

And if you ABSOLUTELY can't find something, that means it might be your mission to create it.

If you're having trouble, reach out to us in the Facebook group and we might be able to help!
