After the events of “Batman” (2022), Oz Cobb, aka Penguin, tries to take the reins of the criminal world in Gotham. From melting make-up to filming in sub-zero temperatures, Colin Farrell and Christine Milioti talk about how they got into the role while filming The Penguin. Colin Farrell fought to have his version of the Penguin smoke tobacco in Batman (2022), but to no avail. However, in his own series, the character is depicted as a casual smoker who prefers cigars.
The tone and atmosphere is just perfect
The umbrella falls and the logo changes to the Warner Bros. logo. He took part in the film “Graham Norton and the fans: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti” (2024). This is a sloppy, dirty and dark film, but Farrell managed to capture that glimmer of charm that Gandolfini’s Tony Soprano managed to do.
Where to start with Farrell
There is a similarity with “The Sopranos”, especially in tone. There’s a lot of dark in this opening episode, but there are comedic moments that fit the tone without undermining it. Unbelievable is the right word. I love seeing talented actors give their all to roles like this, and the make-up/CGI or whatever it takes to physically turn him into a penguin not only passes the eye test, but looks incredibly realistic.
And Farrell as an actor is completely immersed in this role
There is always a risk that if the makeup is not good enough or not quite successful, it can completely distract attention. In “Penguin”, it increases its productivity and the overall quality of the series, because it’s a damn good job. Maybe I’m a little biased because before this series he was one of my favorite actors, but I think this will bring him the praise he deserves. I never watch new series at once, because I like to watch all series at once, but I wanted to see what this one actually turned out to be.
I was not disappointed, moreover, she simply amazed me
