He’s smart. He’s beloved. He’s Dexter Morgan, America’s favorite serial killer who spends his days solving crimes and his nights committing them. In Season 8, Angel Batista was not always played by David Zayas. His son David Zayas Jr. replaces his father in some shots, as the two look very much alike. Visible throughout the first season, Dexter has a large scar on his left side. Later in Season 2, the scar moved to the right side, leaving his left side without a mark. Dexter creates a believable and very detailed portrayal of, let’s say, a troubled sociopath. One of the parts of the show that I like the most is the emotions that normal people show, thus forcing Dexter to imitate them. Good laughs when the emotions Dexter is faking become real and he is scared to death, as in his relationship with his “girlfriend” Rita, a mother of two and victim of his abusive ex-boyfriend. I also liked Jennifer Carpenter’s acting as Dexter’s sister Debra, she adds a nice touch to the show without being cliché. Exciting story, lots of detail and one of the best opening sequences ever.
